Many people ask me how exactly I get my natural toenails to look so great without polish. As someone who takes a lot of photographs of my feet I have found that taking extra special care of your feet and toenails overall is a great start.

Your fingernails and toenails are a an important part of your body and can actually tell you if you have certain health issues to address. Of course you should always consult a physician if you feel that any of the symptoms suggest illness. You would then need to be officially diagnosed and treated. Here is a little chart of what I have found searching the web!

  • White nails: Liver diseases, such as Hepatitis
  • Yellowish, thickened, slow-growing nails: Lung disease, such as Emphysema
  • Yellowish nails with a slight blush at the base: Diabetes
  • Half-white, half-pink nails: Kidney disease
  • Red nail beds: Heart disease
  • Pale or white nail beds: Anemia
  • Pitting or rippling of the nail surface: Psoriasis or Inflammatory Arthritis
  • "Clubbing," a painless increase in tissue around the ends of the fingers, or inversion of the nail: Lung disease
  • Irregular red lines at the base of the nail fold: Lupus or Connective Tissue Disease
  • Dark lines beneath the nail: Melanoma

Another key point in the care of your nails is the pedicure. There are so many unrealized steps that some skip over. Any good pedicure requires the following basic items: polish remover, cuticle/nail oil, nail file, nail buffer, toenail clippers, orange sticks, cuticle nippers, foot bath (for soaking/cleansing feet), foot soak/wash, nail brush, pumice stone and soft towels. There is also additional items you can add to this list to make your pedicure extra special including various Aromatherapy and Essential Oils, Ped Egg Foot File and Paraffin Wax Bath treatments. Be sure to clean your feet first as best you can. Soaking them in a hot soak for 5-15 minutes helps ease the muscles. This process helps remove dirt but also soothes the skin and gets it ready to be scrubbed and pumiced. This is when you will use the nail brush which will lift dirt from under your nails gently. At the end of this foot bath is when it is most ideal to scrub your soles with the pumice stone to remove any dead or rough skin. Now that the soles are taken care of, the next big step after a bath/soak is the care of the nails themselves. This is where you get to break out the cool tools like nippers, clippers and files. Be sure to trim down your nails now, when they are softest and able to withstand the havoc a pair of clippers can reek. Buffing them is another important step that can help remove any discolorations from previous polish changes and smooth the nail to make the next coat perfect.

I have found that this product, Bubble White is a great way to get the yellow tint off your nails after repeated polish changes. It is an effervescent nail cleaner that takes about 5 minutes and is well worth the time! It requires warm water and your toes! I really like the feeling of all the little bubbles working their magic to lift the dirt!

Most people are aware that calcium is necessary in the formation of the bones and teeth and in maintaining bone density and strength. However, calcium plays a critical role in other important bodily functions as well, such as muscle contraction, nerve function, blood clotting, enzyme function and heart rhythm. Since calcium is so important to the body, low calcium levels can produce a range of problems, with symptoms ranging from mild ones to, in extreme cases, life-threatening health issues.

I never was huge on taking medications and in my search for topical applications and solutions I found other ways to strengthen my nails. I found my solution in a few small bottles offered at a local beauty supply store and all for just under seven bucks. I have tested each and every single thing I am about to suggest and I use them each and every time I do my own pedicures at home!

The first three bottles shown are top coats as well as crucial base coats. The fourth bottle (Rush) is a top coat ONLY and does really take 60 seconds or less to dry completely! It gives a great glossy finish that makes your nails look almost wet continuously and also promotes health in your nails.

  • L.A. Girl: Calcium nail builder
  • American Classics: Yellow stopper top coat
  • American Classics: Nail bright whitening gel
  • Rush: 60-second speed top coat

All can be purchased at www.sallybeauty.com.

My greatest tip I saved for last, GO NAKED A LOT!

Once the nail grows from the matrix it is basically dead. It does not feel and has no blood supply. This is why you can trim your nails as well as your hair and not feel pain. Though your nails do not actually "breathe" it is crucial that you stop abusing them with abrasive chemicals (polishes and removers) for a while if you really want them to be healthy and sexy again. Hide your polish bottles on yourself for a minimum of two weeks! Act like you don't even own a bottle! Constantly applying layers of varnish actually assist in the breakdown of your nails and can be easily a contributing factor for weakness.

Slaves of Feet, Really? (Archive)

Recently someone wrote me asking this burning question that I am sure many of you have often wondered yourselves...

"I've noticed that there are a lot of "slaves" when it comes to foot fetishism. Feet being the lowest part of the body and therefore something about being submissive which comes from ancient cultures or something along those lines. The thing is, there are tons of guys out there that will worship feet all day and night and talk about being someone's slave. But how many of these guys REALLY want to be slaves? Sure there are tons of submissives out there but most of the time, I feel it's all just talk. No real desire. I think it's to just flatter the woman which is fine to a degree but if you're not serious, why say it? Not everyone wants that and I'm one of them."

If I had to guess I would say you are probably seeing a lot of behavior that is associated with online Dominance and submission. D/s involves "master and slave" role-playing scenarios that are conducted over the telephone, email, messenger and web cam. It is an agreed upon arrangement by consenting adults and is not to be entered lightly in many cases. More information can be found here:

The most common online D/s relationship is Financial Domination. This consists of online "play" and a money/gift exchange between a Mistress and her slave(s). The relationship is one based out of a desire to be submissive and supportive to one superior female.

Even though I am not a domme I do get approached with the "I want to be your foot slave" comments and letters. I do feel that this offering does tend to be an overused conversation starter these days. I cannot say if these males wish to truly be "slaves" to women in every sense of the word because I do not entertain them. Honestly I wouldn't have the foggiest on just where to start with one of these gentlemen. For me, business is pretty cut and dry. There is no role playing etc to be had.

From the looks of it on other various websites and social networks nowadays there is a bigger and bigger crossover from foot fetishism into financial domination and this could possibly be the cause for the what feels like a sudden surge of "foot slaves". Since for most people, online is the only way they can fully satisfy their submissive or dominant fetish the most logical thing to do is pay someone for their time and/or services. Many of these so-called slaves send gifts and tributes to please their superior as well. Each situation and relationship is different and most involve the foot fetish as a form of "play."

In the end it really comes down to what makes you most comfortable at the end of the day. If being a submissive is not "your bag" then just look the other way. Just be true to what you like and how you want to be seen to those around you who share the same fetish and activities.

Trick or treat, smell my feet. Give me something good to eat…Happy Halloween everyone!
This month holds one of my most favorite holidays of the year, All Hallows' Eve. Halloween received its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain [pronounced: sow-wen]. The Samhain Festival is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes regarded as the "Celtic New Year". The ancient Celts believed that on October 31st, the boundary between the living and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires and costumes with masks. These masks were worn at Halloween to attempt to copy the evil spirits and to even pacify them.

For many of us, this time of year is perfect for trying polishes we normally would not including orange, green and black. Personally I wear black polish year round but this is the perfect month for those girls who are timid to try the new colors. You will want to remember a base coat when painting these darker colors as they are capable of staining the nail itself. We can hit any salon and get hand painted or air brushed designs of spooky cats, webs, spiders, ghosts, witches and even pumpkins on our nails. You can also find fingernail decals that feature all the classic symbols of the holiday. The ideas are really very limitless, so just have fun!

Also, our costumes usually include a pair of fishnets and some really wild shoes or boots. You cannot be Super Woman with out her killer boots, can you? Last year I learned a valuable lesson with the fishnets and boots combo I chose…you must wear socks! I walked for several hours and when I got home and popped off my boots I found I had cut the back of both of my ankles pretty badly. This can lead to scarring and we do not want that do we? The socks also help buffer the toes inside your boots and this cuts down on blisters from all of the walking. For those who choose to wear heels out all night, get ready to come home and SOAK THOSE FEET! Getting the circulation going and a nice peppermint soak usually helps aid in tired and sore feet.

Now onto sweet treats for our feet! Many of us enjoying being on both the giving and receiving end of some pretty hot toe and sole action and this holiday gives us sugar and candy to add to the mix. Candy covered apples can be a thing of the past if you get a kit to make the apples and instead use the sweet candy coating to dip and lick with toes instead! Again, your own imagination will lead you to many fun places, if you just allow it. I suggest feeding your footie partner his candy corns one by one with your toes, but that is just me.

One of the most well known symbols is the carved pumpkin (Jack O'Latern) on the front door step of each house. Prepping one of these can be a messy blast, especially for those who get a hard-on for wet & squishy food crush! Think about it... all those mushy pumpkin seeds and guts just waiting to be dug out and pummeled under a pair of sexy and strong feet. I don't think a gourd out there stands a chance!

After taking my mini-me out for her treats, I will be sitting with my feet up watching my traditional viewing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. What plans or traditions do you and your family have?

Remember to dress up, get out there and have a spooky time... and most of all be safe!

Hypermobility & Toe Pointing (Archive)

Many have written to me asking about a very simple but somewhat rare talent that I have. I can actually bend my feet nearly in half while doing a toe scrunch. This seems to fascinate so many of you and to be dead honest it had never really occurred to me that I was different until I came into the online foot community. I just figured most people could do the same thing.

I cannot exactly explain why I can achieve such a tight curl with my feet but I do have some interesting theories. Firstly and foremost I think it has a lot to do with two habits I have always had, even since childhood.

As a child I would always curl my toes under my feet with my heels touching the floor. The pressure in the knuckles just feels good to me and creates an almost tingly feeling in my joints and ligaments. I am thinking that over time I conditioned my ligaments to stretch out and allow for a wider range of motion through this constant bending and holding. Almost like how an athlete does “stretches” before they are to perform.

Secondly, this could all be because I am a “hypermobile” person, which can also be referred to as Double-Jointedness or Hypermobility Syndrome. I have slightly long toes and it appears I have almost an extra knuckle. This could possibly account for my wider range of motion and toe spreading. Hypermobility can affect a single joint or multiple joints throughout the body and I can still put my feet behind my head (with a little effort) so I imagine the same goes for my ankles and toes.

I do not have chronic pain in them any more than the average person but I can only guess what my feet will suffer through later in life due to the constant misuse of the joints and knuckles. I did a little interweb searching and came across a few good reads on the subject for those who wish to read further, since I am not a qualified physician and am merely making speculation as to my whys and how's I wanted to supply more information:

Article on Wikipedia on Hypermobility Syndrome, etc

Oxford Journals Rheumatology, Living with Hypermobility Syndrome

Now this following blog actually leads me to believe that my first assumption of exercising and stretching, could also be true.

It really ends up being what you personally think is the causing factor for those who can do these types of stretches, toe points and exercises.

How to Get the Girl (Archive)

Q: How can I find a woman who will enjoy my foot fetish and not think of me as "weird?"
A: The answer is a tough one that has many variables to it but I will give it my best shot. Since I am not a professional relationship counselor this column is only to serve as a "guide". Add in the fact I have not been in the dating loop, so to speak, for roughly 12 years. I am sure my mind set and ideals might be a bit "old fashioned" but they worked well for me thus far!

First try to remember that relationships center around more than just feet and sex. They require thought, understanding, unconditional love, trust and most of all respect. Without first understanding the working mechanisms of these relationships, you cannot possibly achieve a lasting bond with your chosen partner. If you are looking for a "quick fix" you may have better luck sticking to online dating services, personal ads, etc. For me, I would say honestly that achieving a lasting connection with someone is key to having a really fulfilling sex life with a nurturing partner. Of course, I am just one person in the world and so many of us have different definitions of "comfort". Do not hide any part of yourself going into a new relationship. Hiding something from someone you hope to build trust with just doesn't work, ever. So, do not hold back.

This does not mean go full force into perving the peds on the first date but if the signals you get or jokes/hints she drops leads you to believe that is actually quiet open to the idea of her feet being touched or pampered by a man, play it by ear. Give the banter back to her ever so playfully. In other words, be respectful and hopeful she has the kink you need... an open mind.

On a comical side of all of this there are many no no's that most people would agree apply. Googly eyes are absolutely the worst move any person can make when attempting to scope out the opposite sex. You know the eyes I speak of. We have all seen them in person as well as personified on screen and in the media.
Having a fetish is not the worst thing that could ever happen to you. Why people fear opening up is the most puzzling phenomena to me. To hide your likes is to limit your happiness. Sexually enjoying feet is only taboo because it has always been associated with implications of sexual deviance. Licking in between each toe on a partner's foot to arouse both yourself and them is no more deviant than slowly kissing your partner's lips in a passionate embrace. It is just a different body part.

Overall you do need to be able to "get a feel" for when the time is right to bring your fetish up. Once you have dated and sex is a topic casually mention what you do like and why. The why is key. This sexual preference is like any other, it offers you pleasure of both your mind and body. Expressing what simply massaging her feet can do for you, as well as her, seems to me to be one of the most logical reasons to share such key information. What crazy woman would turn away a man who was open, honest and expressed what pleasures him in a passionate and exotic way?

"Baby, massaging your feet when you have had a long hard day, really makes me..."

Each approach is different and not any one person can tell you exactly how to "get the girl". The only person who can obtain this is you. Know what you want and all you have to do is work towards making it happen. If you act like a clam and stay inside your shell you will never fully realize the potential that could slip by you. This being said I stress caution in respecting the natural laws and limits of flirting and the approaching of the opposite sex. What will work for one of you, may not necessarily work for all of you. Sadly there is no magic guide and as I have joked in the past, you cannot set out bread crumbs and hope that the foot fairy brings you a foot girl of your own so you will need to find your own method to the madness. For me, I found the lasting relationship with an open-minded partner option was the best!

Best of luck... now go get you some feet!

Let's Get this Party Started (Archive)

Here I am, stepping into the footsteps of two very intelligent and gifted ladies who used to write this column. They made it what it is today but both have had to pass it on. Like a torch with a destination. Now it is my turn.

Many know me as Mommie D. This is short for an online handle, Mommie Dearest, as I was commonly known on the popular networking website, Myspace. I chose the name in 2003 and when I entered the foot community in late 2006, I found the transition to be smoother if I just kept the handle as it had always been.

When Wu approached me and asked me to take up this column I was completely elated and nervous. I knew what work had been done previously and started to reread many of the past months for each Genie and Michele. They both wrote about so many subjects it is hard to know where to start so I have chosen to introduce myself formerly.

I registered here on Wu’s Feet Links back in November of 2006. I was invited to the forum by a male member who enjoyed meeting with me at various local places and taking photographs. I allowed him to post my images on the board and found that he had a great response. That boosted my spirits and gave me some of the starter confidence I needed to further venture away from Myspace and open myself up to a whole new world of possibilities. I had been posting my work in an online group through Myspace and found I thirsted for more after a while. I wanted more challenges but not just in the images themselves but in the dedication to meet deadlines and goals that I had set for myself. I wanted to do the hard work and appreciate everything I did with my website. I feel when you achieve this then it will show in your work and will help others feel that spirit in the fetish.

My love for feet started at an early age. For me the fetish can go both ways. Though I do prefer to have my feet sniffed, licked, massaged, adored, pampered and anything else your heart can think up, I also enjoy giving pleasure with my feet. This can be as simple as resting my feet in my spouse’s lap or getting my stinky toes smelled after a day in my sneakers and go as far as full blown foot jobs. Feet are a lifestyle in my home.

As a child I started to just enjoying watching feet. I watched them everywhere, on TV or in pictures and magazines. Every movie seemed to have a woman dancing with great heels on and her legs and feet looked so graceful and powerful. Seeing that made me want to run off and try on hose and heels! It was mostly the movement for me then. As a child you do not have the knowledge of the sexual attraction of this body part. I only associated what I could see at the time and to me it was fascinating. Women getting up on their toes to reach a top shelf in the store, the way a leg is raised during a kiss and a shoe can fall off or even be caught in dangle because of flexing toes. Then you have dancing and oh boy, don't get me started! I am a huge fan of flexible feet that have complete strength.

Why have I chosen to dribble on and make you ready about my roots here in the foot community? Simple and easy, we needed to make a beginning. A first date if you will. See, this column is going to be a place for us to explore. This is a place for you to get to know me - the new author of this foot column.

I do not plan to have one certain layout or plan for each month. If you have a suggestion or a topic you would like to see me talk about and get my point of view on, email it to me right away! I will reply by email if I choose your submission. I love the thought of answering those questions I know that some of you must be dying to ask a girl.

Don’t be shy; I won’t bite – unless you ask me to.

Email me today!

If you do not choose to email me then you will have to suffer through reading what tantalizing and zany subjects "pop" into my head and fascinate me. I know to some of you this will not be punishment, seeing me randomly write about things that strike my fancy, but I do look forward to both communicating and answering questions as well as sharing my insights and opinions.
