Buying Worn Footwear Stinks!

Cierra's feet are easily two of the sweatiest I have ever encountered.

A few weeks ago a thread came up on the Wu's Feet Links Forum that has been brought up time and time again. It called out a former foot fetish model, and Wu's Feet Links Hall of Famer, for being a liar and/or not coming through with promised worn items. I chimed in, mostly due to the fact that the topic of this particular person has been brought up numerous times, although her site hasn't been online in years. At this point, it is like beating a dead horse, but it did make me think. 

How easy is it for the sale of used items to go horribly wrong? There are two sides to this - the buyer and the seller. Both with something to gain, both with something to lose. And due to the fact that I can see both sides getting potentially angry with things I might say below, I included only my own photos in this piece. I didn't want to run the risk of people thinking I'm pointing them out for one reason or another. I have never sold worn items on Soles of Silk, so the photos are just used as references for popular worn items for foot fetishists. I will also not use any site or model names directly, except for things such as eBay and eBanned - a popular site for people who buy worn items of all kinds.

I've had a lot of requests for buying my model's worn socks.

The Buyer

Let me state up front, I have never bought a worn item in my life. The only thing I ever even considered buying was a pair of high heels worn by one of my favorite female wrestlers back in the early 2000's - complete with an autograph and a certificate of authenticity. I believe it was for a charity auction. When those bids got into the hundreds of dollars, however, I was no longer interested. With all that said, maybe I'm not the best person to cover this topic, but I've been in the online fetish scene since the 1990's, so take what I say below for what it's worth to you.

One of the biggest things I'd fear buying worn items would be, well, not getting the item after purchase. I've bought things from eBay that never came, but I was charged for. Since eBay is a creditable site that looks out for the buyer, they took actions where they were needed. With some mom and pop fetish site, or some girl on social media selling socks, I'm not thinking that will be the case.

I've read online how this sort of thing has happened to others. It seems more common than it should. Some of those times, however, I have seen those sites, or the models, respond and apologize. Where it went from there? Who knows?

That leads me to a somewhat related concern. Slow turn around time. I've looked at online stores on some fetish sites and the ones that sell an item and then pull it down seem to make sense. The ones, however, who blindly sell worn socks, flip flops, etc. run the risk of a slow turn around. For instance, what if just three customers each paid for a pair of very worn socks - ones that would require the model to wear them for multiple days, let's say four to five days to get them smelly. Well, if you're customer number three, you're already waiting at least two weeks for her to get them to you. Now what if you're customer number seven? Customer 10? Customer 25?

I can't fathom how a site can sell items without keeping that in mind. That's part of the reason why I never sold from Soles of Silk. I've had people ask me if they could by flip flops worn by Ryan, socks from Mindee, or whatever item from whatever model is their favorite. Now, I don't date, nor live with any of my models. Sometimes I only shoot them several times a year, so that would be out. Others, like the ones I work with, I see often. I also know my friends. They'll forget to wear them, or slack until I ride their ass. It's human nature. So yeah, I have never sold because I know I couldn't keep up demand or come through with requests.

Now, if you think these things are bad, then what I say in the rest of this section might just make you sick. I've seen claims, in the thread on the Wu's forum, and on other sites, that make the claim that the models never even wore the footwear. Nope. They believe the model have done one of two things. One, soaked the items in chemicals to make them stink. Or two, which is even worse, had her boyfriend/husband wear them.

Where do these claims come from? I have no idea. I've never known anyone who sold items who said they've did such things. But what if it's true? I don't want to call anyone a liar, and it could be an easy way to make up for falling behind. So maybe... Conspiracies! It does make me wonder!

The Seller

When Soles of Silk launched in 2004, I put in a page to sell items at some point, but I never decided to use it. It has since been removed. During those years, however, I have become friends with many site owners who do sell items and are good, honest people. Good, honest people who have buyers trying to get one over on them, or are just so damn picky and couldn't be pleased with anything they received.

Just like with eBay, anyone selling items through their own store, or a site such as eBanned, runs the risk of a customer "claiming" to have never gotten their item. Knowing the owner of a local comic book shop who has a store on eBay, he's had a number of claims like this. While the owner of this comic shop might lose out on a high value comic, seeing nothing in return, the same holds true for the seller of worn footwear. What if a woman was selling an expensive pair of worn thigh high boots? Or better yet, some Wonder Woman style boots from a cosplay set? I'm sure it's happened.

In a case like this, what do you do as a seller? Do you believe your customer? You want to believe them, but there are some rotten people in this world that just want something for nothing. 

The other option is to keep the money and then piss off the customer. If that customer did indeed get screwed, be prepared for forum threads, social media posts, negative reviews, etc. And worst of all, even if the person was lying, they still might do that very thing. 

Another thing to be mindful of if you're selling worn footwear is people's preference. No matter how much you think your girlfriend's, or your own feet sweat/stink, someone will inevitably think they don't. Those people you will never please, and I'm thinking that a good majority of people out there buying worn items are doing so for a scent.

I have seen reviews/posts on various web sites talking about girls who sell worn items and how "they didn't live up to expectations," "didn't even smell," or didn't smell like the person believed they would. When it comes to scent, I think it's like hot wings. Some people like blazing hot, and some people like a mild. The best, however, are those who want one thing, but realize it isn't what they really wanted afterward. You have to deal with that too. Sometimes the regular hot wings are what they wanted, instead of that nuclear hot. And yes, I've seen complaints of shoes smelling too much as well. Can you really win?

These are the reasons why I have never opened the store on Soles of Silk. The closest I have done was give away a pair of worn pantyhose from one of Cierra's earliest sets as a contest prize. I advertised them as "worn in the set," but made no claims of them being smelly. Thankfully the winner of the contest was just happy to have something worn in a set of one of his favorites.

Things to Keep in Mind

Even with all the things I mentioned above, there are good people on both sides of the trade that enjoy selling and purchasing worn footwear. Your best bet is to find someone you trust. And even that can be hard. Do you buy from someone who sells tons of stuff and risk slow turn around, or do you buy from an unknown you just found and risk it being a scam? It really is a hard choice.

If you're looking to buy, try to get to know who you plan to buy from and their work. See what other people are saying about their products and service. Shoot them a few emails, or correspond with them on social media. See how they treat you. Remember, however, to treat them with respect also. Be sincere, but don't be creepy. That's a quick way to get your emails ignored, believe me.

Some sites/models will go out of their way to take photos of themselves, or their models wearing the item - sometimes even holding a sign with your name or email address on it. For some, that's a sign that the seller is the real deal. 

For those looking to sell, treat it like you would any business. Make your customer happy. Don't advertise what you can't possibly produce. Begin small and be fair with your prices. Looking on eBanned right now, socks are going anywhere from $1-80. That's quite a difference. I'm sure some of the girls out there with an established name, with a huge fan base, can pull off that high price. just don't overdue it. There are some people into the findom aspect too, but I'm not thinking that's the majority.

With most things in life, also remember, if it's too good to be true, then it probably is! Just don't resort to stealing the high heels your coworker leaves under her desk. That's a whole other subject, hopefully not for another blog!

So You Want to Open a Foot Fetish Web Site?

I've been running Soles of Silk since 2004.

Ever since my email address has been placed on the various web sites that I have run over the years, I have regularly gotten the question, "How do I make my own foot fetish site?"

Now that question is a loaded one for sure. Is the person talking about the design aspect? How about the content creation aspect? Hosting? Networking? Credit card billing? The list goes on and on. To answer that question in a simple email is impossible. I often feel like I give a half-ass answer, or even come across as not caring when I reply. You just can't answer that question fairly.

When I first started getting the question I would ask which aspect the person was talking about. Many of the time the reply would be, "All of it." Okay, so now I'm supposed to explain every single detail about how to start a web site from the ground up in a single email? That's totally not going to happen, sorry. To expect someone to do that is not fair to them.

The best part about this question is that I can't remember a single time when someone emailed me back to tell me to check out the site that they started. Did I scare them off? Was someone having big aspirations? Were they ever really serious to begin with?

I often find the person who wants to create a site will do the research on their own and then come to me and ask for tips on what they've done. I've offered my opinions and feedback on numerous start up sites, no matter what the scale, or the person's grand vision. Those are the people who generally get something going, from my experiences.

So why this long winded diatribe? Well, since this topic is one that gets brought up to me regularly, I figured it might be best to go ahead and address it publicly. Maybe something I cover will help you out. I'm going to offer some advice, but I will be honest as well. Nothing here is meant to offend anyone, but rather make you really think about your ideas and plans. I hope these tips help you out.

How Much Time Does it Take to Run a Site?

This is first for a reason. If you're someone who thinks you'll be able to throw a bunch of photos and videos online and walk away while the money comes in, stop right now and scrap your plans. The internet is too big with too many people offering content that is surely going to be just as good, or even better than yours to just sit back and do nothing.

When you run a web site you'll need to find time to create content, whatever that may be for your site, update the site, and advertise your site/content. If you're like me, that means you're going to have to plan that around your existing full time job. How you go about this is something you, yourself, have to plan out. What works for me with Soles of Silk would probably cripple larger sites, or be too much work for a smaller one.

Most successful sites are a labor of love. I'm not talking corporate sites here though. I'm talking the kind of site that would probably be started by someone who would take the time to read a column like this. Those corporate companies have teams of people to pump out material on a regular basis. And remember, you'll have to compete with that too.

How Much Money Does it Take to Run a Site?

Another of the popular questions. This one is going to be a short a sweet answer. It depends.

The factors I'm covering below will play into how much money you're going to be looking at for the site alone, but for most people, those numbers can vary from month to month. 

Just remember, other items such as paying models, picking up equipment, computer programs, clothing/props for shoots, etc. will all add up as well. There is no easy answer for this one. It will depend. You will have to come up with a budget and know what you can and cannot spend. Start small and grow. Don't jump in the deep end and find yourself out a bunch of cash at the start. Just remember the popular saying, however, "To make money, you have to spend money."

I currently work with Adobe Dreamweaver, but am looking to try out Adobe Muse.

How to Create a Web Site?

In addition to asking me how to start a site, I often get asked how to design them. I took college courses for this and self taught myself quite a bit on top of that. So for me to teach someone how to work with HTML, style sheets, Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Premier, etc. in an email isn't going to happen. You have to kind of have to know a little bit about how the computer, programs, graphic design, and the internet works here.

Sadly, there are so many new technologies out there that have come since the time that I learned them. I'm not even as current as I'd like to be anymore. I'm actually trying to find the time right now to learn a totally different program called Adobe Muse and see if it will work better for me than I currently work with Dreamweaver. 

With all that being said, if you have no computer skills whatsoever, I'm not sure this is the kind of thing you want to do. To me, it would be like someone who can't cook opening a restaurant. Could they be a restaurant manager? Maybe. But the head chef? Probably not.

What you need to do is research what's out there. Some places build sites and have easy drop templates where you can place your material. I have never dealt with something like that, but there are too many people with little web experience out there who have sites for it too be that hard.

Where to Host a Foot Fetish Site?

This can be tricky. Since fetish sites often fall under the adult content classification, you just can't host your site anywhere. There are hosting companies that will close your site if you host an adult site on their servers. You just can't put a site anywhere. Do some research on where you can park your site.

Once you find some hosting companies you like, the one thing you then have to take into account is what they're going to charge you. Remember, as your site grows in storage size and traffic, that number is surely to rise. Some sites might even cost you money to run at start up and beyond. Yes, that's right, you might be paying to have a site.

Some hosts, such as B-H-E, go a different route of taking a percentage. I went with them early and have stayed. Do they suit what you want? Only you'd be able to determine that. Some people have done better elsewhere, while others like the simplicity. That is only something you can decide.

How Does Billing Work?

Since I've only dealt with B-H-E, I'm not the most qualified person to answer this question. B-H-E does the percentage method here too, so that works well and is easy for me and my schedule. Many other sites will work with outside billing companies such as Verotel and CCBill. Other companies do exist, but if I remember correctly, not all will deal with a site deemed adult. You're going to have to do some research for this one. I'm not of much help here, but I know it's something you'll have to pay attention to.

These are just some of the basic elements of what goes into opening and maintaining a site. I didn't delve into other topics such as what equipment you'd need, or how to find models. Those topics are for another day. Plus, if you don't even have the hardware or have a model, or models, to get something started, you probably shouldn't even be at the point anyhow. Maybe I'll talk about some of those in another blog at a future date.

Photos of Foot Fetish Wives & Girlfriends: Why Couples Love to Share

Now here were are in 2015 and Leg Show is no more. Hell, I think 35mm film is no more. Okay, that was sarcasm, but with everything digital and everything online now, it is easier than ever for people to reach out and share their foot fetish photography with others. And although the advent of social media has been a big factor, one of the best places to share their photos and foot fetish adventures has always been Wu's Feet Links, namely on the Wu's Feet Links Forum.

For this piece I reached out to a number of couples on the forum who share their foot fetish photos with the community. Not everyone got back to me, but a number of them did. Much like Abby and myself back in 1998, the couples found below love putting their photos out there and seeing what other people think. All of these couples were excited at the prospect to take part in this column and get their photos out to an even bigger audience.

For this particular column, however, I decided to change things up a bit. Instead of the usual topic-by-topic structure, this column will go member-by-member. I want each couple to have their own chance to shine. Also, this piece will be a Q&A style entry, sort of like what you'll find on the Wu's Feet Links Interview Blog - just not focused on a single person. When I decided upon the topic of couples sharing their foot fetish photography, Cain was one of the first people I hit up on the Wu's Feet Links Forum. Cain is a regular on the forums and is always sharing images of his wife's size 7 feet.

Sadly, one of Cain's recent posts mentioned that he lost a bunch of his photos on PhotoBucket. I hope he gets those images back or can find a back up somewhere. Nevertheless, one thing is for sure, you can bet Cain will be posting many new photos of his wife in the future!

How long have you been a couple?

Cain: We've been a couple for about five and a half years now, but have known each other for 20 years.

How was foot fetishism brought up in the relationship?

Cain: Foot fetishism was brought up one day in conversation when she told me about a coworker who used to ask all the ladies to pose for him in slippers and asked if he could go shoe shopping with them. Cain: I love reading the positive feedback. It's a major turn on. She also enjoys it because she never really liked her feet before I started giving them the attention they deserved.

One reason I hear from guys not wanting me to take photos of their wife/girlfriend for Soles of Silk is the idea that guys online might pleasure themselves to images of her. Obviously that doesn't apply to you. What are your feelings on the fact that there are some fetishists out there who might enjoy looking at your photos for that purpose?

Cain: I love the fact that guys might be pleasuring themselves to my wife's feet and I wish more would tell me. I don't offend easily at all and would love to learn more about how everyone feels about my wife's feet and what specifically they like about them. She just laughs - not at me, just with me. She loves the attention.

Do you have any plans to take your photography/videos further with maybe a site or Clips4Sale store, or do you prefer keeping things more laid back - like a hobby?

Cain: I would love to take my photos/videos further onto sites or to Clips4sale. That is definitely something I would be interested in attempting. She would most likely be up for that as long as it's anonymous.

Cain: Well as I stated, the most important reason to do the foot fetish photography is to see what the responses are to her feet. It's sort of a foreplay to me - a turn on to get excited and helpfully lead to more foot play or some great sex. Not that I need it to have sex, but it's like the icing on the cake... No pun intended. I have also expressed my interest in watching her give a footjob to a fellow member. That would drive me crazy - in a good way, to see that. I remember the first time I recall seeing IrishFootGuy84 post photos of his wife's feet on the Wu's Feet Links Forum in 2014. It was in a thread he titled, "My Wife's Feet in Clear Slides and Bare." I immediately thought the photos were kind of cool with the shoes they used for the first few photos. Those see-through soles were very unique and something I think I'm going to look into getting for one of my shoots one day. I hope they don't mind me stealing the idea.

While IrishFootGuy and his wife, who I am referring to as "IrishFootGal" below (sorry, didn't know what to call her), don't post a lot of images, the ones they have posted are quite nice. It's always great to see a couple share whatever they can and hopefully we will all be seeing more in the future.

Since I began Soles of Silk in 2004 Dave, the Wu's Feet Links Forum member that goes by ooooOOoooo, has been one of my longtime members and fans. He's always been a great guy and I've bounced many ideas off of him over the 10 years I've been online.

In recent years Dave met and married Rachel. Since that time they have been after me to meet up and have Rachel become one of the Soles of Silk sole mates. While that hasn't happened yet, perhaps 2015 will finally be the year?

When I sent the interview in to Dave he had the idea to have Rachel also take part. I loved the idea and that's ultimately how I ended up conducting the interviews with everyone involved.

How long have you been a couple? 

Dave: We have been married for three years. Been together for five. 

How was foot fetishism brought up in the relationship? 

Dave: A couple of months into us starting to date, I had a feeling that Rachel might be "the one." I took a huge risk and came clean about my foot fetish. I didn't want our relationship to be have a huge secret. 

Rachel: Agreed. He told me just a couple of months into us dating. He actually mentioned how he thought my feet were good enough to be on a website that he was a member of called Soles of Silk. I was curious to see and I tried my best to be open minded about his foot fetish. Rachel: When he mentioned starting an Instagram page, I was all in. I was very curious to see the feedback that pictures of my feet would get. The more feedback I got, the more I wanted to post. It feels good having "foot fans."

Rachel:  I love the feedback! It's still a little crazy to me that so many people find my feet attractive, but I'll keep sharing as long as the feedback keeps cumming.

Obviously that doesn't apply to you. What are your feelings on the fact that there are some fetishists out there who might enjoy looking at your photos for that purpose? 

Dave: Honestly, it doesn't bother me. A little part of me thinks it's hot that other people see her feet the way I do. And knowing that they are all mine is even better. 

Rachel:  I have absolutely no problem with it at all. I mean, it's a little empowering to know that I can have that sort of impact on other guys with my feet. 

How often do you find yourselves pulling out a camera and doing foot fetish photos? Has the feedback you've gotten encouraged you to make sure you do that more often? 

Dave: If it was up to me we would be taking new pictures everyday. I wouldn't say the feedback leads to us taking more photos, but sometimes suggestions are made to help us take different kinds of pictures. 

Rachel: Sometimes I think he suggests that I go get a fresh pedicure just so he has an excuse to take new pictures of my feet.

Do you have any plans to take your photography/videos further with maybe a site or Clips4Sale store, or do you prefer keeping things more laid back - like a hobby? 

Rachel:  I don't know that either of us has the ability to start our own site. I do know a certain photographer, however, that I would love to have take pictures of me and my feet.

Dave: I love sharing Rachel's photos because I love the interaction that it brings with the rest of the foot fetish community. I remember the first time I ever saw her feet - French pedicure in flip flops. I knew at that moment that I really wanted to see her soles and take pictures of her feet. My dream has come true! 

Rachel: I really enjoy seeing pictures of my feet online because I get to act like a model! I mean what girl doesn't want to be a model, right? Plus since I've learned about this fetish and how much is really involved with it - it's fun to try and do my part. It's just another way for us to enjoy my feet. I know it really makes him happy to take the photos and that makes me happy. Also, I'm glad that a lot of you like to see my feet. It's been a real treat to share my bare feet!

Oscar: I love the fact that we are involved in a large group effort of everyone trying to turn everyone else on.

Oscar: Really not as often as I'd like. We end up being busy, but we also mainly take pictures just for Wu's. I think posting weekly would get old for other forum members.

Wu's Feet Links Forum Member - Riscaf013

When I reached out to Riscaf013 about taking part in this column we got crossed up a bit. It looks like Riscaf had to make a second account on the Wu's Feet Links Forum at some point, but luckily we touched base and I was able to get him and his wife to talk to us about foot fetishism and sharing their photos.

From what it looks like, Riscaf hasn't shared a lot of photos on the forums as of yet. The ones he has shared, however, are quite nice. His wife has a nice arch and who doesn't love those bright green toes up there?

It was neat to include a couple who is still a little more fresh to sharing their photos. I hope that they continue to be a part of the Wu's Feet Links community moving forward. It's always nice to see cute feet like these shared on a regular basis.

How long have you been a couple? 

Riscaf: We have been together for almost six years.

Riscaf: I have always had a foot fetish since I could remember and it was one of the things I brought up when we first started dating.

Foot Queen: He was pretty upfront about it. He said he had be burned in the past by girls and was made to felt like a weirdo. I was taken aback about it at first, but once I educated myself about it, I embraced it fully.

Foot Queen: I had some reservation. If he did not post the first one and surprise me I don’t think I would have done it. Now that it's done, I enjoy it.

So I'm happy to show other men out there, there are women who will embrace it full force and enjoy having their feet attended to.
